Tohoku is a region located in the northeastern part of Japan's main island of Honshu. It consists of six prefectures: Aomori, Akita, Iwate, Yamagata, Miyagi, and Fukushima. Tohoku is known for its natural beauty, with a landscape that includes mountains, forests, lakes, and coastlines. The region is also famous for its hot springs, traditional festivals, and local cuisine, such as seafood, rice dishes, and sake.

Day 01: Singapore – Haneda

Assemble at Singapore Changi Airport for your flight to Haneda

Day 02: Haneda – Aomori

Upon your arrival, you will be picked up at Haneda Airport and catch a domestic flight to Aomori Airport, or board the Tohoku Shinkansen at Tokyo station. Your first stop is the Furukawa Market where you can explore and buy fresh seafood, meat, vegetables, and other delicacies. Indulge in the market's signature dish, the Nokkedon rice bowl. Next, visit the Nebuta Warasse to experience the Aomori Nebuta Festival's history and culture. Dance to the Hayashi music like a Haneto dancer or try playing the taiko drums.

Day 03: Aomori – Towada

Journey through Aomori, the northernmost prefecture of Japan, where culture and nature blend into a unique travel experience. Starting Hirosaki Park, known for its seasonal events, such as the Sakura Festival, leaf-viewing festival, and snow lantern festival. Here, you can also visit the stunning Hirosaki Castle, preserved in its original structure. Next, we'll head to Saruka Park, where the pink flowers of almost 330 cherry blossom trees transform the park into a picturesque wonderland. Finally, we'll take you to the Oirase Gorge Stream Hiking trail, where you can hike or bike along the scenic trail and enjoy the breath-taking views that have inspired artists and poets for centuries.

Day 04: Towada – Akita – Iwate        

Our first stop is Lake Towada, the largest caldera lake on Honshu Island. Admire the lake's stunning autumn colours, especially around the Oirase Stream, one of Japan's top autumn spots. We'll also visit the iconic Otome-no-zō Statue. Next, we'll head to Kazuno, the birthplace of kiritanpo, where you can experience the Akita BBQ Sticky Rice Stick DIY, a unique DIY experience. Finally, we'll explore Kakunodate, a former castle town and samurai stronghold. Though the castle is no longer standing, the town is famous for its samurai tradition and hundreds of weeping cherry trees that offer a magnificent spectacle during springtime.

Day 05: Iwate – Miyagi

Start at Iwate Park, where remnants of the old Morioka Castle can be seen through its stone walls. Enjoy the stunning cherry blossoms during the season for a peaceful stroll. Next, visit Takamatsu Park for the annual "Sakura Festival" and take part in various activities. Finally, head to Kitakami Tenshochi Park for a 2 km cherry blossom-lined pathway along the Kitakami River. Soak up the beauty of Japan's iconic cherry blossoms and enjoy the serene ambiance of each park.

Day 06: Miyagi – Yamagata             

Begins with a Matsushima Bay Cruise, where you'll be mesmerized by the serene islands that have inspired Japanese poets and warriors. Next, visit the hidden gem of Ginzan Onsen Town, nestled in the mountains of Yamagata Prefecture, and relax in the hot springs that have attracted visitors for centuries. Stay in one of the many historic ryokans that line the river for an authentic experience. Indulge in a delicious strawberry-picking experience, picking and savouring fresh, juicy strawberries straight from the vine. If strawberries aren't available, you'll still get the chance to taste other fruits.

Day 07: Yamagata – Zao – Nasu 

Embark on a journey to Mount Zaō, where you'll witness breathtaking views of the scenic destination's lava domes and tuff cone, Goshiki-dake. The crater lake, "Okama," contains emerald green waters that will leave you mesmerized. Next, head to Ouchi-juku, a former post town located along the Aizu-Nishi Kaido trade route. Here, you can experience traditional Japanese architecture with thatched roofs, cobbled streets, and wooden buildings that transport you back to a bygone era. Explore the historic town and immerse yourself in the traditional Japanese culture on this fascinating tour.

Day 08: Nasu– Tokyo

Start your day with a visit to Ashikaga Flower Park, starting with a stroll through the stunning wisteria blooms hanging overhead. These wisteria stalactites are grown on overhead frames, adding to the enchanting experience. As the sun sets, the park comes alive with the wisteria blossoms illuminated with soft and colourful lights, creating a magical and romantic atmosphere. Imagine walking through a sea of wisteria flowers, with the gentle glow of the lights casting a spellbinding spell on you.
